If you've read this book before, you know that it is such a special holiday tale, with gorgeous and emotional illustrations. I actually just recently discovered this book and am so excited to read it to my kids for the first time this holiday season. If you haven't read it before, it's about a gloomy woodcarver with a painful past, who hides away from the world. But when he's hired by a local widow and her son to carve a nativity set before Christmas, he begins to experience the hope and love he's pushed away for so long. It is a tale that encourages our children to look around them and reach out to those who may not have loved ones nearby or may be struggling during this holiday season.
